The HealthyCare guide for Discovery Bank clients with Vitality Money states that its terms and conditions may change at any time, without promising notice of such a change. The HealthyFood guide for the same client group, published a month later, contains the same sentence followed by a commitment to notify members before the terms change. The difference is a single sentence, present in one guide and absent from the other.

What this means

Its benefit guide states that the terms and conditions governing the benefit may change at any time. That statement carries no commitment to tell members before a change happens. The direct comparison sits in Discovery’s own document set: the HealthyFood guide for the same client group — dated one month later — states the same rule and then adds, in the next sentence, that members will be notified before the terms change. This entry quotes both, along with the surrounding clauses a careful reader needs in order to see the full picture.

The clause

The representative clause is quoted above as it appears in the HealthyCare guide (p. 6, DSC-2519), where it is a bullet point in the section describing the partner digital cards. It is one sentence long, and no sentence about notice follows it.

The counterpart clause in the HealthyFood guide for the same client group reads:

The first sentence is identical. The second sentence exists only in the HealthyFood guide.

How the mechanic works

The change clause makes no notice commitment. In the HealthyCare guide, the sentence “These terms and conditions may change at any time.” stands alone (p. 6, DSC-2519). In the HealthyFood guide, the same sentence is followed by “We will notify you before they change.” (p. 8, DSC-2552). The guide documented in this entry is the one without the notice sentence.

Both guides carry a separate, more general closing statement. Each guide also ends with a sentence about being told of changes; both are quoted here so that the change clauses can be read in their full context. The HealthyCare guide closes with:

The HealthyFood guide closes with:

These closing sentences refer to “product or benefit changes”. Whether that general statement covers a change to the terms and conditions themselves is not something the documents say; what can be said from the text is that the specific clause about changes to the terms carries a notice sentence in one guide and not in the other.

What can change under the HealthyCare guide is broad. Beyond the terms themselves, the guide states that the catalogue of qualifying products is at Discovery’s discretion:

“Products listed in these catalogues can change at any time. • Look out for the Vitality HealthyCare stamp on shelf labels in-store to identify HealthyCare items. • All HealthyCare items are identified as ‘VIT’ or ‘V’ on your in-store till slips. • Products that qualify for the Vitality HealthyCare benefit are chosen at our own discretion and may change from time to time.” — p. 7, DSC-2522

A third guide in the same family also promises notice. The HealthyFood guide for Vitality Active members with Vitality Money (June 2026) states: “These terms and conditions may change at any time. We’ll tell you before they change.” (p. 19, DSC-3397). Among the three current guides in this benefit family that were examined, the HealthyCare guide is the one whose change clause carries no notice sentence.
