Vitality Fitness: an exercise benefit gated behind a Discovery Bank account and Vitality Money

Vitality Fitness is an exercise-booking benefit, but the terms make using it depend on a banking relationship: a qualifying Discovery Bank account, Vitality Pay and Vitality Money active, primary-accountholder status, and the account in good standing. If the member stops being a Discovery Bank client with Vitality Money, access to the platform ends.

Clause, verbatim

If you are no longer a Discovery Bank client with Vitality Money, you will no longer be able to transact on the Vitality Fitness platform.

What this means

Vitality Fitness is a platform for booking workouts, classes and gym access. To use it, the terms require the member to hold and maintain a specific set of Discovery products: a qualifying Discovery Bank account with Vitality Pay activated, Vitality Money active, and the account in good standing. Only the primary accountholder qualifies — secondary accountholders do not. If the member closes the linked account, or stops being a Discovery Bank client with Vitality Money, the terms state that access to the platform ends. In other words, an exercise benefit is conditional on an ongoing banking relationship, and losing the bank product removes the fitness benefit with it.

The clause

The representative clause is quoted above (p. 8, DSC-3008), under the heading “Ending this benefit”: access to the platform ends if the member is no longer a Discovery Bank client with Vitality Money. The entry requirement states the same dependency at the front of the document:

“To book a workout in the Vitality Fitness Network, you need to: o Be a Discovery Bank client, aged 18 years or older o Have a qualifying Discovery Bank account with Vitality Pay and Vitality Money activated” — p. 1, DSC-2973 (also recorded as an eligibility condition, DSC-2972)

The benefit is limited to the primary accountholder:

“You must be the primary Discovery Bank accountholder with Vitality Pay active to qualify to transact on the Vitality Fitness platform. Secondary Discovery Bank accountholders do not qualify for the benefit.” — p. 5, DSC-2992 (the same clause is recorded as a rights asymmetry between accountholders, DSC-2993)

Even the free workouts are tied to holding a bank account:

“You need to have a Discovery Bank account to use your free workouts on the Vitality Fitness platform.” — p. 3, DSC-2979

And the account must stay in good standing, defined broadly:

“Your linked Discovery Bank account must be in good standing. Good standing means that none of your Discovery Bank accounts and credit facilities are overdrawn, in arrears, in default or subject to any legal process with Discovery Bank – including being under debt counselling, administration or sequestration and keeping your KYC (verification information) or AML (anti-money-laundering) information up to date.” — p. 6, DSC-2999

Where this appears

The clauses are in the “Vitality Fitness terms and conditions” benefit guide (vitality-fitness.pdf), printed date December 2025, captured on 21 July 2026, published under Discovery’s VITALITY MONEY ONLY tab in the “Vitality Fitness” section. The same file is served byte-identically (md5 c674bc09…) under the two Vitality Active tabs’ “Fitness Points” sections, so the same conditions govern members reading there. The programme value in the registry for this copy is Vitality Money, reflecting the bank-only tab it is published under.

How the mechanic works

Entry is conditioned on a bank product. Booking a workout requires being a Discovery Bank client aged 18 or older with a qualifying account that has Vitality Pay and Vitality Money activated (p. 1, DSC-2973, DSC-2972). The document lists the qualifying account types — from the Gold PAYT and transaction-bundle accounts through the Platinum, Black and Purple tiers (p. 5). Vitality Money must be active, and the member must “have enough money in your linked Discovery Bank account or Discovery Miles account to access the benefit, unless you have free bookings available” (p. 5, DSC-2994).

Only the primary accountholder qualifies. The terms state that the member “must be the primary Discovery Bank accountholder with Vitality Pay active”, and add: “Secondary Discovery Bank accountholders do not qualify for the benefit” (p. 5, DSC-2992, DSC-2993). Access to the fitness benefit therefore turns on a person’s position on the bank account, not only on being a Vitality member.

Using the platform is agreement to the linked product terms. The acceptance clause lists, among what a member agrees to be bound by when using Vitality Fitness: “The terms and conditions without limitation of Vitality Money and Discovery Bank Account” (p. 6, DSC-3000) — so engaging with the exercise benefit is also acceptance of the banking terms it depends on.

Losing the bank relationship removes the benefit. Two clauses close the loop. Closing the linked account ends access: “If you close your linked bank account or Discovery Pay mandate, you will no longer qualify to transact through the Vitality Fitness platform” (p. 5, DSC-2996). And the “Ending this benefit” clause states the general case: “If you are no longer a Discovery Bank client with Vitality Money, you will no longer be able to transact on the Vitality Fitness platform” (p. 8, DSC-3008). A member who leaves the bank, or drops Vitality Money, keeps neither the platform nor the workouts and packages that run through it — the forfeiture consequences of which are documented in the related entry below.
