Discovery Miles and Vitality points: current documents state different values for the same limits

Two pairs of Discovery documents, all current on the date of capture, disagree on the value of the same limit. The Discovery Miles terms and conditions put the Miles+ trailing-spend threshold at R3,000; the Discovery Miles brochure, printed one day later, puts it at R3,150. The Vitality Main Rules put the yearly fitness-points limit at 30,000; the Summary of Vitality Health Points puts the overall maximum at 25,000. The registry quotes all four statements and does not adjudicate between them.

HealthyFood: the main member chooses the partners for the whole family, dependants cannot change them, and the main member can revoke dependants' share of the rewards

In the HealthyFood benefit for Vitality Active members with Vitality Money, the main member's choice of retail partners binds the spouse and dependants, who cannot change it. Qualifying spend is counted in a set order that starts with the main member. Vitality Active rewards are paid to the main member, and dependants receive their own share only for as long as the main member has not revoked consent for them to receive it.

Ster-Kinekor movie benefit: two different versions of the same guide, dated more than three years apart, served at the same time on different product tabs

On the date of capture, Discovery's Vitality product-rules pages served two different versions of the Ster-Kinekor movie benefit guide at the same time: a version dated December 2022 on the Vitality Active tabs and a version dated 12 February 2026 on the Vitality Health tabs. The newer version adds a qualifying-movies restriction, a refund-policy condition, a children's benefit with its own renewal and expiry rules, and a guardianship warranty, none of which appear in the version served to Vitality Active members.

HealthyCare: terms that "may change at any time", with no notice promised — while the HealthyFood counterpart promises notice

The HealthyCare guide for Discovery Bank clients with Vitality Money states that its terms and conditions may change at any time, without promising notice of such a change. The HealthyFood guide for the same client group, published a month later, contains the same sentence followed by a commitment to notify members before the terms change. The difference is a single sentence, present in one guide and absent from the other.

The Virgin Active gym discount for Vitality Active members with Discovery Bank comes with joining fees, a rolling 36-workouts-a-year condition, cancellation costs — and a clause under which Discovery may change or end the campaign at its discretion, with the member waiving any claim.
